About Padre Ryder’s Journal

After years of serving in the US Navy Submarine force and various positions in the business world, I have discovered the wonderful vocation of parish ministry, serving others in their journey through life. I am an ordained Episcopal Priest serving in MA.

Developing a deeper relationship with God, a deeper awareness of self, and a deeper sense of serving others requires daily attention to one’s religious and spiritual practices. My hope is that this journal will help to guide, stimulate, and motivate others to find new ideas and to rediscover old ideas that will cultivate these practices. In the spirit of Anselm’s belief of “faith seeking understanding” and the spiritual exercises of Ignatius of Loyola, I hope you will join me in a continual discovery of life, learning and love.

Father Thomas Ryder, C.S.P. (1880 – 1962) was my Great-grand Uncle and the inspiration for the title of this blog. He is pictured here on the day of his ordination.
